Quiet Study Zones
Do you need absolute quiet to study for exams? Would you like to get away from the cell phones and iPods and study groups? We have a place for you.
The 3rd and 4th floors beyond the elevators (from the computers back) are now designated quiet zones. Look for the Quiet Zone signs in these areas.
If someone is being loud or disruptive in these areas, feel free to remind them that it is a quiet zone, or if you're uncomfortable doing that, let a library staffer shush them for you.
You can visit the Service Desk on the 1st floor or call the library at 615-898-2817 and choose the Service Desk option to get help.
Or you can pick up a house phone near the elevators. These are routed to the Service Desk.
Or if you don't want to leave your computer, send us a message through our chat box at
When reporting noise, please be as specific as possible about your location, and if you can, provide a description of the noisy people. This will help us track down the source of the distraction.
The 1st and 2nd floors and the front areas of the 3rd and 4th floors are available for collaborative study, which means that you should expect some noise. This library is large enough for all types of studiers to find the environment that they crave. Also check out our reservable group study rooms. If you have questions or suggestions, please let us know here or drop a line in our suggestion box.
Extended Hours for Exams
Starting this Sunday the Walker Library will be open extended hours during exams. We will be open til 1a.m. Sunday - Thursday. Please see our hours page for more info.

It's book buy-back time
About this time of year, you're probably wishing you never have to see that 10lb textbook again. Make that wish come true by using Amazon's new Textbook Trade-In program.
You'll get a credit to your Amazon account that you can use toward next semester's 15lb textbook.
This program is in beta phase. If you use it, comment here about how well it worked.
