The
decorative and colorful artistry of medieval books will be the subject of a
discussion on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. Dr. Laura Cochrane, an assistant professor in the MTSU
Department of Art, will talk about “Medieval Pages: From Manuscript Leaves to
Digital Images” in the library’s fourth-floor Special Collections
area.
The discussion will be in association with the ongoing
exhibit “The Art of the Page,” which is on display through January 2013.
Cochrane’s research interests include early medieval art,
especially Anglo-Saxon and Carolingian manuscripts. She teaches courses in
medieval and Renaissance art, art history methods and Islamic arts.
Cochrane earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of
California-Davis, her master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin
and her doctorate from the University of Delaware.
